Conference Overview
Cheap energy & unique position in the Persian Gulf region has made Iran a perfect spot for Aluminium Smelting in the past few decades.
Not only the upstream production in Iran clarifies the rate of Aluminium growth in this country but the downstream industry has also been noticeable.
According to the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), Iran is the 20th largest Aluminium producer in the world and needs the extra supplies to meet demand which is growing by 10 percent
Iran produced 338000 tons of Aluminium in 2012 and is aiming for 770000 tons in 2016 and 1.5 million tons by 2025 (IMIDRO is on the way to changing its target production goal from 1.5 million tons to 5 million tons per annual). Investing 8.5 billion Euros ($11.4 billion) to quadruple production by 2025, is only a small part of Iran’s Aluminium growth plan in the future.
Considering the global economic crisis spread worldwide, the development of the Aluminium industry has been mind breaking and in need of a specified “guideline”.
